Just outside Honiton in East Devon, Deer Park Country House is a majestic, Grade II-listed Georgian manor dating back to 1721. I’ve filmed at this venue twice and each time it rained quite a bit! So I’m quite familiar with the inside, less so perhaps with the outside – although we did manage to get outside in some dry spells.
It’s a large house, with plenty of room to spread out. The main function room is large – so large, they actually split it in half for ceremonies often. So it’s great for large weddings, and particularly, as I found out, for rainy weddings too! Something you should always think about when looking at a wedding venue is how it would be if it rains a lot. With Deer Park, there’s enough room to have a great time inside all day long.
When it’s not raining, you can enjoy beautifully manicured gardens, plenty of outdoor seating, a fountain, walled gardens, a secret tree house (that you can actually use as your bridal suite!). It’s pretty and there’s enough variety to keep even the most demanding of photographers busy.
Inside is a collection of sporting memorabilia and artwork which adds a little bit of character to the place. The downstairs has plenty of rooms to relax and socialise in, as well as larger rooms more suited to events. The bar is particularly nicely done with a light and airy space filled with hanging plants.
This venue has it all and is well worth a look for a Devon wedding.
